No HERO can save us against Worms

Worms is one the most supported archetypes of the game, every monster represent one letter of the alphabet. But the true is that only three monster makes the whole deck. Yagan, Xex and Cartaros. These three cards make the deck so good, than even appear in the top32 decklist of YCS Orlando. While light-HERO beat totally disappear from the tournament and it have sense.

Worms are all that a HERO deck want to be, but can't.Let’s analyze this carefully.

They both have light monster, both use rai-oh, honest, duality and warning and a heavy trap line to take control of the game.

Gemini sparks is substituted for offering to the snake deity. A kind of icarus attack that is way better than gemini spark because we can eliminate two cards to avoids syncro summon, damage and strong background fields.

Elemental HERO stratos is substituted for Worm Xex, with the same attack but more defense. Stratos give you a normal strong monster to your hand, while Xex give you a strong defense monster to the FIELD capable to make evacuation device. Also you can play three Xex, but only one Stratos.

HEROs have E-emergency call, but Worms have Worm cartaros with the same effect, and also cartaros can be using it like offering fuel to destroy two.

HERO have a lot of fusion monsters, but only the shining can give them the card economy they need to be efficient. In the other hand, worms have a King, a kind of scrap dragon except for:

Worm king can tribute facedown worms, can destroy as many cards as he can tribute, can be summon with only one sacrifice.

And that is the end of the HERO advantage, while Worms have one extra card that literally send the deck to the top.

W nebula Meteorite: Change all face-down monsters on the field to face-up Defense Position. During the End Phase this turn, change all face-up LIGHTReptile-Type monsters you control to face-down Defense Position, then draw 1 card for each. After that, you can Special Summon 1 Level 7 or higher LIGHT Reptile-Type monster from your Deck.

So, start with the usual field of Xex that summon Yagan from the deck, then set the meteorite. Now our innocent opponent summons six samurai Kageki and then Kagemusha, but that is the end. After active the meteorite, Yagan will send kagemusha back to the hand. The opponent will end his turn. Yagan and Xex will go face-down, we draw two, and then Worm king will come to the field from the deck. And we are ready to make an instant win.

And THAT is something that HERO can't do. I have been working in the deck in these days, and after some testing. I end with two constructions, the first without duality or warning (2/3 wining ratio). And a second with duality and warning (3/3 wining ratio, yeahh I don't lose any game yet lol).

3 W xex

3 w yagan

2 w Linx

3 w Cartaros

2 Thunder king rai-oh

1 Ananta evil dragon

1 Honest

1 W King

3 Pot of duality

2 MST

1 smashing ground

1 Dark hole

1 Reborn

1 Book of moon

1 Nobleman of crossout

3 W nebula meteorite

2 Solem Warning

2 Bottomless trap hole

1 mirror force

1 torrential tribute

1 Royal oppresion

  2. Me ha pasado 1 vez, pero es un evento muy extraño considerando que solo llevas 1 king. Peor es jugar 2, porque decks control como este no se pueden dar el lujo de jugar un dead draw como este.
